The democratic presidential nominee, Joe Biden, says he hopes to pick his vice president running mate on August, 6 at a fundraiser.
Biden has announced that his running mate will definitely be a woman. However, it is not certain that she would be a woman of color.
The pressure increases as more than 200 women of color urge him to choose a woman of color by writing an open letter, but Biden is not sure he would be on board. “There are women of color under consideration, and they're women from every part of the country -- so a lot of really qualified women that are ready to be president,” he declared.
The letter reads, “we urge you to seize this historic opportunity to choose a Black woman running mate who will fight for the issues that matter most to the American people and help deliver a decisive victory and a successful Biden presidency.”
The California senator, Kamala Harris, who is also a former candidate of the 2020 presidential election, is on Biden’s radar along with other female candidates.
Due to the events happening in the US, Biden is under pressure to choose a woman of color as his partner.
