Developing a science that is meant to change people’s life is not a piece of cake. Still, John Grinder, a linguist and Richard Bandler, a mathematician and information scientist made it, back in the 1970s in the US.
Let me introduce you to neuro-linguistic programming.
The website “Goodtherapy.org” defines neuro-linguistic programming as a psychological approach that involves analyzing strategies used by successful individuals and applying them to reach a personal goal. It relates thoughts, language, and patterns of behavior learned through experience to specific outcomes.
It is the magic recipe to take advantage of your inner thoughts and imagination to achieve your goals.
This science is called neuro-linguistic programming because it is based on people’s neurological activity and language is a way of reflecting their thinking.
Grinder and Bandler’s lifetime work entered so far many domains such as sales, sports, teaching, team building and public speaking. At first, the NLP’s main purpose was to make change in psychotherapy.
Based on the work of the hypnotherapist Milton Erikson, the therapist Virginia Satir and the anthropologist Gregory Bateson, the two scientists managed to gather enough information about the techniques used by these professionals in order to develop a new science and teach these models to their own students.
The key is to apply their techniques, in other words: to imitate.
Enough science, welcome to a world of miracles.
Yes! Neuro-linguistic programming can literally change your life. You just need to follow the instructions.
We all have dreams and goals to achieve, but not all of us are committed enough to make them come true.
I know that everybody has his own problems to deal with, and life does not make it any easier. But excuses are pointless, whatever the situation is.
What about people who actually made it?
Every success story is different, but the process is the same : Hard work.
We all have the same neurological system, which means that we are all capable of achieving the same things if our methods were correct
.
• Find yourself a model
NLP requires a model whose techniques are worthy to imitate. In order to thrive and do well, you need to find a successful person whose actions can be copied and help you get what you want too.
Want to be a public speaker? Tony Robbins is the perfect model. You can see how he talks, moves and organises his thoughts. Not to mention how he sees his way through the whole process of public speaking.
Want to be a good singer? Beyoncé is one of many models who was and still shining thanks to her voice, training and efforts.
A model does not have to be a well known person. Success is the thing. Look at any successful person you know and get inspired.
• Master the art of imitation
It is not that hard! Just like an FBI agent who keeps looking for patterns to catch a criminal, your job is to find the patterns that your model keeps repeating to thrive and succeed.
Successful people have patterns too. They are their ticket to spotlights.
Imitate their daily habits and never skip the details. Every single thing matters.
• Wake up early in the morning
• Eat healthy food
• Exercise
• Meditate
• Read books
These are one of the habits in common for all successful people. But you need to look at the details because they make the difference.
Imitating does not mean to change yourself into another person. You are special as you are, but the techniques you are using are not getting you anywhere.
So, do not get confused. Change your methods, but stay as you are.
YOU!
• Your beliefs matter!
“You are what you believe yourself to be,” said Paulo Coelho.
The process of imitation will never serve you as long as you do not actually believe that you can make it.
You cannot achieve anything until you quit doubting yourself, because you keep sending negative signals to your subconscious mind. Therefore, your wounds will never stop bleeding.
If you think you are not good at something, then you should expect that you will never improve. This is the irony of how our subconscious mind works. One negative belief can literally ruin your whole life.
Our subconscious mind keeps stocking true or false information. This is why you should be careful about how you think about yourself.
We all have flaws. It does not mean we have to keep reminding ourselves that we do.
The NLP is an excellent technique to change your life. This may seem so clichéd, but it is true because it is scientifically proven.
There is no shortcut to happiness. Hard work and struggles are inevitable but it is all worthed.
